Standing Apart

Categories: LifeWriting

Sometimes stream of conscious says it best.

Standing Apart

I stand apart,
I watch while others perform.

Hi, my name is Jamie.
Its nice to meet you,
I’ll just stand over;
And watch,
While you talk.

Another beer?
No, I’m good,
I can’t seem to finish;
The one in my hand.

What do I do?
Well I teach.
{taciturnly}
But;
Thats not all,
I sing,
I paint,
I play,
I aim,
I miss,
I love,
I try,
I cry,
Again,
{/taciturnly}
Not now.
I stand over here,
I watch while you perform.

Each extended moment broken,
Intermissions of reality;
What is really happening?
In my life?
First how about yours?
Not just;
It’s going fine.
Cross the line.
Into verity;
Though it makes us cry.
It is hard sometimes,
Not to lie.

When life starts to make sense,
Is when it all goes to hell.
Everyone has their wounds,
Mine is right here.

Now I stand here.
A little more near.

I apologize;
I was never,
Easy in these.
I was never the same.
So still I stand here,
Not too near.

Bon noir interprètes,
I enjoyed the show.
I hope you didn’t mind;
My standing over here,
Moving just a little more near.
The night calls me home.
Where I am just me once more.
