Who Is Jamie?
Categories: Life
I was going to have all of this on the side bar. However, that just seemed kind of self centered to have big long paragraphs all about myself on the side of my site. So I thought I would make it an entry in the blog and then just link to it from the side so people could choose whether or not they actually wanted to know more about me. :) Choice is good.
We are so often defined by our jobs I think I will start there. I have been a Student, Lifeguard, Swim Teacher, Shelf Stocker, Fish Packer, Handyman, Elementary School Teacher, Webmaster, Artist, Tech Support Person, QA Tester, and now Web Developer/Designer in my relatively short life. I have plans to add Author to the list one of these days and have plans for other endeavors as time and opportunity permits.
I am a Christian. You may decide what that means to you since it would take too much space here to describe what it means to me (are labels not fun?).
At this point in time I'm just taking a step back and waiting for a clearer signal from God about what he wants me to be doing with my life. The older I get the less sure I am of what that is. :) Funny how life works that way.
July 2006 Update: Figured I should give a little update on my current status in life. I'm still looking for some signals on other portions of my life but as far as work is concerned I'm currently quite happy. I now do Web Development and Web Design with a company called NetRaising and I'm really enjoying the job.
A voracious reader, my interests are fairly widespread and, among other things, include Theology, Philosophy, Science, Fiction, Science Fiction, Technology, Music, and Art.
This website serves as a place for me to store my thoughts as well as display my art and my writing. Other people may occasionally find these things interesting to them. If so, I'm glad. If not, well, thats life.
Something I get asked a lot:
Question: Where does the name Methnen come from?
Answer: It is a name I made up for a story I wrote while in high school. It isn't a story I care to share with anyone because it wasn't very well written.
I did, however, like the sound of the name and since it was made up it has always been very easy to use it as my alias on the internet.
So there you have it. Jamie in a nutshell.

Hey, I was wondering if you are related to Steven Poitra. I went to school with him at Hargrave Military Academy and I noticed the name Methnen and I know he had an email with that on it. Well if so then let me know how he is doing sometime. Thanks.

Jay,
I’m his older brother. He is doing pretty well. I’ll let him know you were interested.

Hi Jamie:
We hadn’t heard back from you and have been trying to get in touch with you. When we read: “...my email was down for the entire week and I just noticed it yesterday.” we thought that was perhaps the explanation.
Please let us know how you’d like your KoolSink to be shipped:
Do you want us to send it by small packet airmail ($17.27), or Xpresspost ($22.84)? Just send us the amount by PayPal and we can re-ship your package.
Regards,
Peter
