Your Island Shopper

My client for this project was a small business in Southeast Alaska. The business brings groceries to isolated communities and sets up a store for a few days.
Due to the fact that the company had no central location it was necessary that they be able to communicate with their customers quickly and easily. To help them achieve this I built their site using a MySQL database and PHP scripting that allows them to edit every single word on the page through a web interface wherever the clients are. The client regularly adds news entries to the main page informing customers of the travel schedule and events. I also installed a PHP web-mail script that allows the client to check their email through a web interface as well.
Since the business was new they were also in need of a corporate identity. The client wanted a logo that comunicated their constant travel to and from the larger cities in to the small communities they supply with grocery items. The island used in the logo is Admiralty Island a major island in Southeast Alaska. The Island also happens to be where Angoon, one of the first villages that the business visited, is. The client was provided with letterhead templates, and two large magnetic signs for the truck they use for transporting their products.
I also provided hosting to this company.
Sadly the company fell prey to the whims of fate when the Alaska State Ferry LeConte ran aground on a reef early in 2004. This ferry was the only means (besides float plane) to and from most of the villages that the company serviced.
